Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA) is a registered Pakistani NGO working in rural areas by setting up on-the-ground projects to build the capacity of rural communities so that they can help themselves to improve the quality of their lives and access to basic human rights.

Recently PODA launched a two-year project to raise awareness and promote efforts to end gender-based violence and advocate for quality education for girls. A key element of this project is the production of a series of 40 radio programs and the creation of Listeners’ Clubs in four provinces to increase public awareness on GBV. PODA invites applicants from self-motivated excellent driven & committed person for the project.

Job Description

About PODA:  PODA was established in 2003 by a women-led community group for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural areas of Pakistan. Our vision is for a democratic society based on gender equity and economic justice. Recently PODA launched a two-year project to raise awareness and promote efforts to end gender-based violence and advocate for quality education for girls. A key element of this project is the productionof a series of 40 radio programs and the creation of Listeners’ Clubs in four provinces to increase public awareness on GBV.

About this role:The Radio Component Coordinator/Trainer will be responsible for training and mentoring 15 women and youth leaders to create a series ofradio programs from the ground up and then undertaking community engagement activities around Pakistan.S/he will oversee and implement all aspects of the radio production and outreach for this project including training, program content, editorial, production and community organizing.

Main duties and responsibilities:

-  Train and mentor a group of 15 women and youthselected from across Pakistan to produce radio pieces to complement the advocacy efforts carried out by this project to combat GBV;

-  Design and deliver the radio training program;

-  Conceptualize and recommend radio program content;

-  Create, edit and produce a series of 40 radio programs;

-  Train and coach the radio journalism trainees on-the-job;

-  Develop and implement a plan for airing radio programs nationwide;

-  Form Listeners’ Clubs in the four provinces;

-  Prepare local volunteers to lead the Listeners’ Clubs and launch the Clubs;

-  Write quarterly reports on the development of the radio component of this project.

Qualifications and skills:

  1. At least 5 years experience in coaching radio journalists;
  2. At least 3 years experience in radio production and editing;
  3. Expertise in using editing software;
  4. Team player with excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
  5. Fluent in Urdu with excellent English skills, both verbal and written;
  6. Creative and adventurous;
  7. Excellent time and information management skills; ability to meet deadlines;
  8. Knowledge of and solutions to radio broadcasting working in resource-poor environments;
  9. Experience with community organizing a plus.

Time Commitment:

This is a 100% time position over 18 months.
