Over 120 rural women leaders from 60 districts of Pakistan participated in PODA’s 13^th annual conference on the international day of rural women from 15^th to 17^th October 2020  at Lok Virsa in Islamabad to celebrate UN designated International Day of Rural Women. To minimize the COVID-19 risks, PODA invited less number of rural women leaders in Islamabad to organize the conference with full observance of COVID-19 social distancing policies. Prior to the conference, PODA organized district coordination meetings in 65 districts of Pakistan and reached out to over 1300 rural women. The theme of 2020 conference is ‘Rural Women’s Leadership in Climate Change Adaptation, COVID-19 Response, Governance and Disaster Preparedness’. The rural women leaders deliberated on their role in the fight against COVID-19, issues of women farmers and climate change adaptation, role of rural women in disaster preparedness and how to ensure the role of rural women in upcoming local government elections.
