PODA provides income generation training to rural women and girls (above 18 years) in various villages in Pakistan. Girls who were not allowed to go to school for financial, family or cultural restriction reasons are motivated by female PODA staff and their parents are also educated about Pakistani law on right to education and the disadvantages of denying girls education. The project is currently providing hands-on training in recycling paper to make Papier-Mache handicrafts and recycling plastic to make baskets. Another project teaches girls how to make reuseable cloth bags with women rights messages and paper bags with used newspapers, office charts and plastic bags with used penaflexes used for events announcements. The girls who come to learn these skills (five days a week for 4 hours daily) also spend two hours in attending literacy classes and a daily 45 minutes session on women’s rights, health and nutrition. The products made by these women artisans are sold here by PODA. All proceeds go back to supporting this project. Please take a minute to buy these gifts and support this unique project
