PODA’s Lahore team, with the support of The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad under the project, Reduce Early Marriages to Enhance Gender Equality, met with the former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Ms. Kanwal Liaqat. She played a vital role in 2018 by presenting an amendment to the existing marriage bill. Our team shared the details of the project and the amendment we are trying to seek by increasing the legal age of marriage for girls from 16 to 18 years. She appreciated PODA’s efforts in demanding an increase in the minimunl age of marriage for girls. Ms. Kanwal Liaqat also offered her full support to enact the necessary changes to the existing bill.
