PODA’s Multan team, supported by The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad under the project Reduce Early Marriages conducted a workshop on “Reproductive Health Problems Linked with Early Marriages” with Government Officials in District Vehari. Representatives from Education Department, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, and Population Department were among the attendees. Our team shared PODA’s demand to increase the minimum age of marriage for girls from 16 to 18 years. The participants unanimously decided to link the minimum age of marriage with National Identity Card (NIC). The participants appreciated PODA’s efforts and said that such awareness sessions on a community level will help in reduced cases of early marriages.
