(25 December 2023):  Nikah Khawan are respected figures who play a crucial role in formalizing marriages. Engaging them in discussions about the adverse effects of child marriages can lead to a wider dissemination of information and societal change. Their support can significantly impact community perceptions and norms surrounding early marriages.

Under the Reducing Early Marriages to Enhance Gender Equality project, PODA conducted a successful workshop for Nikah Khawan and Nikah Registrar at Muzaffargarh, Multan. 20 Nikah Khawan, UC secretary and media personnels, participated in the training session on the legalities and repercussions of child marriages. Advocate Ms. Sajida Chaudhry led the workshop, which ended with the distribution of certificates, marking a commitment to societal change and a potential shift in community perceptions about early marriages.
