The #PotoharOrganizationforDevelopmentAdvocacy (#PODA) organised the celebration of the #InternationalDayofWorldsIndigenousPeople on Friday 09th August. The event was held at #TheFarm at #TheatreWallay’s space.
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed on August 9 each year to front up and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population. This event also recognises the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
It was first pronounced by the #UnitedNations #GeneralAssembly in December 1994, marking the day of the first meeting of the #UNWorkingGroup on #IndigenousPopulations of the Sub-Commission on the #PromotionandProtectionofHumanRights in 1982.
#ClassicalDancer, #KhanzadaAsfandyarKhattak performed Pakistan’s indigenous dances at the occasion. #AsfandyarKhattak performed the #Khattak-waal #Ataanr, while speakers gave presentations on the issue. #Ambassador of #EuropeanUnion, Ms. #AnneMarchal was the chief guest.
Asfandyar Khattak started learning #ClassicalDance #Kathak in 2001 from #SaimaKhushnood. In 2007, he became the dance student of classical dance master #InduMitha.
