On the occasion of 14th August, Independence Day, PODA successfully organized a plantation activity, celebrating the day with a focus on environmental conservation. Over 60 children enthusiastically participated in the event, engaging in seed ball making and learning about the importance of trees and protecting the environment.
Led by Sameena Nazir, Executive Director of PODA, the children were introduced to the significance of planting trees, saving seeds, and making compost to nourish plants. Each child received seed balls of various shade trees to plant in their communities, fostering a sense of responsibility for a greener Pakistan.
We were honored to have officials from the Ministry of Climate Change join us, including:
Najam Ul Huda Khan – Deputy Project Director, Upscaling of Green Pakistan Programme
Dr. Nadeem Munawar – Monitoring Officer Wildlife
Tooba Javed – Monitoring Officer Wildlife
Hayat Ullah – Botanist
Ifrah Riffaqat – Assistant Zoologist
Ali Hasnain – Wildlife/Biodiversity Officer
These esteemed guests spoke with the children about the importance of tree planting and seed preservation and planted a Neem tree in the children’s park as a lasting symbol of our commitment to the environment.
Activities like these are essential for climate education, empowering our future generations to take action for a sustainable world.
