POSITION: Human Resource Officer    DUTY STATION: Islamabad              SALARY: Rs. 100,000 monthly

Introduction: PODA is a women rights organization working for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural areas of Pakistan since 2004. Our projects include legal and economic rights awareness and advocacy, democracy education, climate change education and social enterprise development and an annual conference for 2000 participants. Currently PODA is implementing women and human rights projects with 60 staff operating through seven field offices in Pakistan in addition to implementing activities with field based partner groups in 50 districts of Pakistan.

JOB Description: A Human Resources (HR) Officer is responsible for managing every aspect of the employment process, including orientation and training new staff members. The HR Officer will recruit, support and develop staff through developing policies and managing procedures. He/She will be responsible for administrative tasks and contribute to making the organization a better place to work with the goal to provide excellent assistance and support to employees.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
  • Provide guidance to staff on office policies and procedures through written communication
  • Lead recruitment process by preparing job descriptions, advertising & managing hiring process
  • Create and implement effective onboarding plans with orientation of policies & field office visits
  • Develop training and development programs for the staff on regular and annual basis
  • Assist in performance management processes and develop a time line for evaluations
  • Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues
  • Maintain employee records (attendance, timesheets, leave record) according to policy
  • Ensure compliance of human resource policy including confidentiality of personnel information
  • Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as HR officer, administrator or other HR position
  • Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
  • Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • MSc/MA in business administration, Human Resource, Management; further training will be a plus

POSITION: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer for Women’s Rights Advocacy and Protection Project       

DUTY STATION: Islamabad with extensive travel to 41 districts in the Punjab province                        

SALARY: Rs.200,000/- per month inclusive of tax 

Introduction: PODA is a women rights organization working for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural areas of Pakistan since 2004. From January 2023, PODA has started a three-year project in 41 districts of Punjab titled “Reduce Early Marriages to Enhance Gender Equality”. The goal of the project is to increase knowledge of adolescent girls, families, duty bearers, communities, religious and political leaders, judiciary, police, media and civil society groups about the health and education rights of girls and to work collectively for a legal amendment to increase the minimum age of marriage for girls from 16 to 18 years in Punjab and promote and protect girls right to education and a healthy life.

JOB Description: The M&E Officer will work under the supervision of Project Manager at PODA to ensure documentation of quantitative and qualitative data from project districts at village, Union Council, Tehsil and district levels as per the requirements of project log frame and prepare reports with graphs and visuals for analysis . The M&E Officer will monitor project implementation against performance indicators by designing a monitoring database to generate monthly reports, Quarterly analysis reports, mid-term project review and annual evaluations.  The overarching goal of M&E position is to ensure that project activities are on track to achieve the project’s described goals and outputs. Specific tasks of the M&E office include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Lead in designing baseline, mid-evaluation and end evaluation as required.
  2. Develop an M&E plan and give training to all project staff so they can implement it by using the right codes, tracking sheets and meet database requirements for accuracy
  3. Collect case studies, lessons learned, best practices, KAP and technical learnings.
  4. Track and monitor outputs and results of project as per project objective to assess impact
  5. Travel to project locations to monitor activities, interview/assess project beneficiaries
  6. Conduct random field visits to gather feedback from project stakeholders/beneficiaries
  7. Ensure confidentiality and security of beneficiaries data by working with PODA IT team
  8. Ensure timely preparation of weekly data entry and monthly reports for management
  9. Prepare reports in formats that are understandable to PODA finance, program and management teams so that they can give their timely input to ensure proper monitoring
  10. Report emerging problems to identify obstacles to alert the management in a timely way

Qualification Required:

  • MA or PhD in Social Sciences or Management with good knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  • 10 or more years of experience in project management, M&E or data analysis for projects
  • Strong command on use of computer work, word, excel, powerpoint, social media and typing
  • Proficient in spoken English, Urdu and Punjabi languages and excellent writing skills in English
  • Effective communication skills, team work, honesty, time management, attention to details, knowledge of rights based approach, able to travel, problem solving skills & grace under pressure.

Introduction: PODA is an NGO working for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural areas of Pakistan by conducting evidence-based research, rights-based programming, and impact-oriented advocacy for a cohesive and democratic society. Our current programs include climate change education, women’s rights advocacy, and constitutional rights education.

PODA is offering paid internships to hardworking, punctual,diligent, and motivated university students with good writing and honest communication, the ability to follow instructions and give attention to details, and a willingness to learn. This is a unique opportunity to work with international-level experts to gain practical experience in action research and office work skills.  

Sample assignments will include some of the following activities:

  • Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and meetings as instructed by the project manager.
  • Conduct research on given topics to prepare proposals, reports, project activities, or advocacy
  • Make phone calls, and facilitate office work including filling, and making lists of participants for events
  • Scanning, printing, and record-keeping of project documents to learn monitoring and evaluation
  • Scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, preparing policy briefs, and organizing follow-ups
  • Preparing profiles of villages, Tehsils, or districts for project design, coordination, and analysis
  • Prepare lists of stakeholders and line departments for referral pathways to facilitate communities
  • Collect data from WhatsApp and email groups to analyze information and make presentations
  • Prepare social media updates and write daily, and weekly reports of activities given by the supervisor

Requirements:

-Work at least 20 hours a week with a combination of the approved in-person and online schedule

-Communicate daily with the project supervisor & inform about classes/exams in writing in advance

-Follow PODA’s code of conduct for office work and all organizational policies for office work.

Benefits:

PODA will provide Rs. 20,000 per month for the internship plus transportation costs as per the receipt

PODA will provide an internship certificate and a Reference Letter after a successful internship.
