ISLAMABAD, 10 Dec 2024: The Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA) enthusiastically engaged in an awareness and advocacy activity over the weekend with women and girls in various districts of the country on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, observed every year on 7 December. The aim of the activity was to extend awareness and support to women in understanding and exercising their constitutional right to vote and its significance and also their legal right to get computerized national identity cards (CNICs) after attaining the age of 18-years.

Under the said activity an awareness camp was held in 13 districts across country focusing on civic participation in connection with the National Voters Day of Pakistani voters. The awareness camp, was organized by PODA representatives in collaboration with the Democracy Education Project. The campaign educated rural youth and women leaders on obtaining CNICs and voter registration, and empowering them to actively engage in political processes, and strengthen their community involvement.

In this connection 4 awareness camps conducted in Balochiustan, 2 camps in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah, 2 camps in Sindh and 5 camps in Punjab by rural Women leaders. In District Hub, Ms. Huma Wahid successfully organized the awareness camp on the National Voters Day which was attended by more than 80 participants. Ms. Kiran organized a very informative camp in district Kohlu, a young leader Mahnoor Gola organized session in district Sohbatpur, Ms. Farzana organized a very informative discussion in district Khuzdar (Balochistan). Ms. Sabra Shakir from District Swat, successfully organized the camp which was attended by 74 participants. Ms. Khandana organized a successful awareness camp in district Swabi in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah. Khalida Mughal from District Rahimyar Khan, successfully arranged the camp which was attended by 27 participants. Ms. Sidra Rubab from District Bahawalnagar, successfully organized the camp, with 42 participants in attendance. Ms. Pamela Bhatti on behalf of PODA held the camp in District Faisalabad which was attended by 17 participants. Ms. Kousar held the camp in District Naushahro Feroze, Sindh. The awareness camp was attended by 20 participants. The camp in District Dadu, was organized by Ms. Farzana. The event was attended by 19 participants. These awareness cams will continued during December 2024 more districts of Pakistan.
