To inform rural children and parents about the importance of nutritious food and healthy growth of boys and girls, PODA organized a “ Where does our food come from” workshop for elementary school students in Chakwal. The workshop was held at PODA’s Organic agriculture farm and conducted by Senior extension officer Ms. Farzana Ashraf and Mr. Baber Abbas. The children learnt what is organic food, what is organic way of growing food and what is the difference between organic and non-organic way of agriculture. The children learnt how to plant a vegetable and enjoyed fresh fruits at the farm. Later the teachers at Zamir Community School explained the nutrition of fresh seasonal vegetables and how they are better than artificially prepared snacks such as chips and sugar candies.
