September 18, 2024 – Today, Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA) signed a Commitment of Cooperation (COC) with the Soil and Water Conservation Research Institute (SAWCRI) to enhance technical assistance for rural women farmers in Chakwal, addressing critical soil and water challenges in the Potohar Region. The Potohar Region faces significant agricultural challenges, including water scarcity, soil erosion, and moisture stress, leading to low productivity for farmers. Since 2004, PODA has been dedicated to empowering rural women through initiatives focused on rainwater harvesting, organic composting, and drought management. SAWCRI has similarly contributed to soil and water conservation efforts in the area.
This COC aims to formalize collaboration on projects addressing farm erosion control, compost preparation, micro-catchment development, soil health improvement techniques, and capacity-building training. Both organizations will work together to disseminate information and best practices to the community, enhancing agricultural resilience among women farmers.
This partnership marks a significant step toward empowering women farmers and enhancing their livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices.
