PODA celebrates National Voters’ Day in District Jhelum-Punjab
On the occasion of National Voter’s Day-December 7, PODA in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Election Commission of Pakistan organized a theatre performance on ‘Importance of Equal Participation of Women in Politics’. The theatre performance was performed by PODA Jugni Theatre Group, organized in District Jhelum, and attended by over 35 participants including women and girls. The theatre highlighted the importance of women’s political participation, the importance of National Identity Cards (NICs), and voter registration. The participants were also briefed about Form 21-Registration/Transfer of Vote.
The theatre was organized under the project “Strengthening Democracy in Pakistan by Enhancing Participation of Rural Women and Girls” funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The project aims to raise awareness and engage rural communities around efforts to ensure the full participation of rural communities of Pakistan in the democratic process. The project is being implemented in districts Chakwal, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, and Sargodha in Punjab province of Pakistan.
