In
December 2022, PODA started implementation of a comprehensive program to
address the issue of early marriages of Girls and its impact on their Right to
Education and Access to SRHR. The project aims at increasing the minimum age of
marriage for girls from 16 to 18 years. The project will be implemented in 41
districts of the Punjab province in Pakistan. By reducing early marriages,
girls can pursue higher education and career opportunities, and gain greater
control over their lives. This creates a ripple effect that promotes gender
equality, empowering women and girls to become leaders in their communities and
contribute to the
society.
